Military Armor (Quality Assurance Program Approved to
MIL-A-12560: This specification covers wrought steel, homogeneous armor plate for use in combat vehicles and for proof and acceptance testing of armor-defeating ammunition. MIL-A-46100: This specification covers quenched and tempered, high-hardness wrought steel armor plate for lightweight armor applications. Commercial Armor ESCO Armor Gard® is among the most recognized name in the United States for commercial armor plate. Armor Gard currently protects private citizens, government official, military personnel and sensitive energy and industrial facilities. Its unique qualities provide exceptional ballistic protection, weldability, formability and flatness. ESCO Armor Gard generally compares with MIL-A-46100 armor plate for its ballistic defense properties, and it is used in a wide range of armor applications, including combat-tested U.S. military applications. Test plates from each heat lot of Armor Gard material are subjected to stringent ballistic testing before being approved for sale by ESCO Quality Assurance. ESCO 1/4” and 5/16” Armor Gard plates are listed by Underwriters Laboratories to meet bullet resisting materials standards (UL 752).
