ESCO Spherilok adapters are a unique dredge cutterhead system, featuring an attachment method that is much stronger than traditional weld-on adapter systems – reducing maintenance requirements. The adapter installation uses a ball and socket joint: the cutterhead arm has cast sockets to receive the adapter ball, which is secured to the socket with an angle weld.+

A high impact epoxy lining in the socket ensures a precise fit and permits the tooth angle to be altered as operating conditions change. Adapter replacements are much faster than with traditional weld-on adapter systems, and the point tip orientation is easily maintained.

ESCO Helilok Teeth are simply the strongest, most trouble-free points available. ESCO offers pick style points for rock dredging, designed with a trapezoidal bit cross section to maintain sharpness. Helilok points also provide chisel and flared designs for sand and clay applications.

Points fit onto adapters with a quarter-twist and butt-fit against the adapter nose to take thrust loads head-on. The helical thread and large stabilizing flats distribute loads over the entire adapter nose for exceptional strength – and breakage is virtually eliminated.

The simple locking method provides security and easy replacement. Points are secured to the adapter with a single piece vertical pin. To remove worn points, simply drive the pin through and twist the point off – and each pin is reusable several times.
