Austenitic Manganese Steel |
|
|
14 series manganese: 14, 14A, 14L is good for a variety of small to heavy section thickness parts.
- Very good work hardening
- High toughness
- Used in a large variety of hammers, grates and structural parts
- 14L is an excellent choice for very heavy sections needing extremely high toughness
14HN Chrome bearing manganese
- Less susceptible to cold flow and better wear resistance than alloy 14
- Light to medium section parts
- Very good work hardening
- Used in hammers where additional abrasion resistance is helpful
14Z series: 14Z, 14ZA, 14ZB molybdenum bearing manganes
- Medium to heavy sections
- Good abrasion resistance
- Excellent toughness
- Very good work hardening

Martensitic Low Alloy Steel |
|
|
Alloy 12 series: 12C, 12H, 12F, 12S
Good choice for medium thickness parts in high impact applications
- Is through hardened to approximately 518 Brinell with excellent toughness characteristics
- Very good abrasion resistance
- Used where manganese will not work harden
